WB Animation announced the return of Young Justice for season 3 but more details such as where the new episodes will be aired and when will they be announced are not yet confirmed. However, the production is currently starting on the third season, which guarantees “new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes.”
The president of WB Animation said in a statement,
“The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us. We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”
The original producers of Young Justice Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman will be producing the new episodes as well. The show revolves around young DC Comics Super Heroes like Robin, Superboy, Aqualad, Artemis, Kid Flash and Miss Martian. The first two seasons were aired from 2011 to 2013 on Cartoon Network. But due to critics and other issues, the series was cancelled for a strange reason which Weisman later confirmed was that sales were highly disappointing for the toys and figurines of Young Justice super heroes.
Even though the show was not being aired but the availability of the show on Netflix gained new viewers and this is probably what led to the series revival.
The synopsis of WB Animation for Young Justice reads;
“In Young Justice, the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in a world of super powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. Used strategically as the secret covert weapon of the Justice League, Nightwing, Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and a host of others strive to prove to their legendary mentors, as well as to themselves, that they have what it takes to be heroes.”
