Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Confirms Some Games Will be Played In Native 4K On Xbox Scorpio

A report emerged this week courtesy of Eurogamer which stated some new details regarding Project Scorpio’s Ram , and following that there has been constant confusion as to the fact that whether or not the console would deliver native 4K for some games. Now Xbox boss Phil Spencer has cleared up the confusion after giving one simple response to  fans which you can see in the tweets below.

Last year Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg had this to say about the Scorpio

“It will bring these really true 4K, really incredible visual games that we’ve never seen before on the console,” he said at the time. “People who have spent thousands of dollars on a high-end PC are getting that experience. How do we bring that to scale in a console in your living room? That’s a big part of what Project Scorpio is about.”

There has been a recent uproar after Microsoft removed “High Fidelity VR” from the features page of Xbox One Scorpio’s official website . However a spokesperson later on confirmed to Gamespot that the feature will be present in the console, however no word was given as to why it was removed from the website in the first place.

The Scorpio has been under scrutiny most recently by many within the gaming community after the Scalebound debacle. With many keen eyed observers noticing that even Nintendo Switch which has an extremely paltry exclusives lineup still has more  than the Xbox One.

It remains to be seen though if Microsoft can steady the ship , after having an extremely rocky start to the new year.

In Scorpio Microsoft has an opportunity to really hit a home run , and it will be interesting to see how Microsoft brands it moving forward. Let us know your opinions by commenting in the comments section below.

It is up to the dev. I personally want a few games in 4k and the others to use the extra horsepower for better lighting, textures, animation. Xbox one s does a good job of upscaling to 4k I’m sure the scorpio will do so even better.

      Yezzir, same here

Microsoft, as usual, is full of it. We’ve gone from “no compromises for Scorpio”, to “some” games will play native on Scorpio. Guess what Phil….”some” games play native on PS4 Pro too, yet Microsoft has banged on and on about Scorpio being a “true” 4k console. When will you sheep get tired of Microsoft’s lies?

I’m with you except for one thing. We haven’t seen the machine yet. Until then let’s not get ahead of ourselves. However, I’m buying a 65 inch 4k hdr TV within the next three month and I sure ain’t paying a premium on a console that can do some games in 4k. Bag that.

It’s why I refuse to buy a PS4pro. Whoopee, you can do indie games and older gamers in 4k, what’s the point. Checkerboard rendering? Hey Phil, you better not bring that nonsense with the Scorpio otherwise you will have FAILED again.

Overpromise and underdeliver is never a smart business move unless you are the market leader. You’re not. If Scorpio is trying to compete with PS4pro, it has already lost. The expectations MS has set in the consumers mind is that there is no competition in consoles and high end 4k pcs is it competition. I await E3 too see this console.

You’re absolutely right…we haven’t seen the machine yet. However, all signs point to a compromise, and truth be told, it has been that way from the beginning. For Microsoft to deliver native 4k@60fps across the board, it is going to cost….and unless they are willing to lose hundreds of dollars on every Scorpio sold and sell it at a loss so the “average” gamer can afford it, it’s not going to happen.

I don’t believe Microsoft’s gaming division is in any position with Microsoft corporation proper to make those kinds of gambles at this stage of the game. So the smart money is on them having to compromise, because the tech that is required for consistent, no compromise 4k@60fps is just not ready at a price point that would make sense.

No, MS has always stated that 4K/Native 4k will always be up to the developers to do what they feel their game needs.

If you think that PS4 Pro will in any way be able to live up to the standard of what Scorpio will bring then maybe you might be the sheep in this sheering situation?

Maybe ask yourself why you are so determined to follow the news on Xbox systems and try to spout the things that you spout? My first assumption is that you simply are insecure about your own purchases?

      • BelAirBoss

Yes….but the goal was always stated that Microsoft first party games would be 4k@60fps. Ps4 Pro doesn’t have to “live up” to anything….Sony, unlike Microsoft, wasn’t foolish enough to claim native 4k@60 for their first party titles.

You say “My first assumption is that you simply are insecure about your own purchases?”
I say, good thing your confusion is not my concern. Good luck with that though.
