For anyone who has been living under a rock for the past five years or so, the Witcher series is based upon a series of fantasy novels written by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The games tremendous success has understandably seen it become a point of pride for the country, so much so that its lead protagonist Geralt will be getting his own official stamp.
Damien Monnier who is the lead designer of Gwent: The Witcher card game at CD Projekt Red broke the news via his Twitter account to the delight of the fans of the critically acclaimed series. It is interesting to note that the stamp will be using the video games incarnation of the popular character, something which is sure to delight all gaming fans. This is not the first time though that a video game character has made its way to stamps, as Japan has a series of Super Mario stamps. You can see the picture of the stamp below.
Geralt has amassed a massive fan following due to the critical acclaim that the Witcher series has received. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt which is said to be his last hoorah, was an absolutely gem of a game, which was praised and appreciated by even the harshest of critics. It is great to see the Witcher series getting the respect and admiration that it so aptly deserves from its country of origin, maybe in the future we can also get stamps of Ciri , and Yennifer as well, but that I suppose will have to wait.
It’s great to see Gerlat getting his own stamp, and maybe in time there will be a stamp for a game in the US as well. Let us know what you think about this development in the comments section below.
