All fans of The Walking Dead have been agonized by the zombie-based series this summer. All the questions about the victim of TWD’s killer cliffhanger will be answered on this coming Sunday when the series return. The uncertainty about the future of the series, however, have been ruled out because AMC recently made an announcement that TWD is possibly going to come back for the eighth season during late 2017.
The two hour long TWD retrospect was aired on Sunday 16th October, 2016 and in it AMC gave away the information about renewal of TWD season eight which will feature 16 episodes. AMC president Charlie Collier made a statement, “Eeny, meenie, miny, more,” basically making reference to Negan during the cliffhanger of TWD season six. He also said the following:
“What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans. And, most important, thanks to those fans for breathing life into this remarkable series right along with us.”
The last renewal of TWD made by AMC was for the third season of the spinoff Fear the Walking Dead which is going to premiere in 2017. After the troublesome finale of season six, the creator of the zombie-based series spoke to Rolling Stone regarding the turmoil and havoc caused by the intense ending of the series which guaranteed to make one of the cast members meet the hooked wire end of Negan’s baseball bat.
Robert Kirkman also said the following:
“We knew that people might be upset, but come on! Everybody wants to see what happened. That’s what a cliffhanger is. I’ll probably get crucified for this, but I feel like there’s a culture of instant gratification now: Netflix, social media, everything is on demand at all times. Nothing is withheld. You can’t do 52 episodes a year. It’s just not feasibly possible. If you can do something that has people talking about your show in that gap between seasons, that’s great. We just ask that if you’ve enjoyed the show so far, just know, Season Seven is going to be pretty great.”
Tune into AMC on 23rd October, this Sunday, for the new season of the zombie-based saga; The Walking Dead.
