Uncharted 4 Co-Director Neil Druckmann Seems Annoyed At The Prospect Of An Uncharted Movie

Video games do not necessarily translate into good movies . There are a plethora of examples of video game movie adaptations ranging from the disaster that was Doom , to the most recent tragedy that was Assassin’s Creed .

Another video game adaptation which is supposedly coming out is going to be based on developer Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed Uncharted series. However it appears that Uncharted 4: A Thieves End Co- Director doesn’t seem all that eager on the idea of an Uncharted movie, or so he would let us believe apparently.

The Uncharted movie is being written by Joe Carnahan and will be directed by Shawn Levy, it appears that Carnahan has the blessings of both Nolan North who voiced Nathan Drake , and Amy Hennig the head writer and creative director of the first 3 Uncharted games who is no longer with Naughty Dog.

In recent days however Druckmann has seemed pretty annoyed and has taken to Twitter to inform the fans of the series that no one at Naughty Dog has had actually had  a look at the movie’s script. Here is the tweet below.

However that is not the part which suggests that Druckmann does have an issue with the movie being made , or at the very least the fact that he wasn’t consulted for the script.(I hope I am not taking things out of context here) . It is this tweet that he sent out a few hours ago.

So you might be wondering what prompted Druckmann to respond in such a way. Well it was this statement.

The script went in, the script got huge, it got a big round of applause at Sony, they were very, very happy with it. So I don’t know, we’ll see what the casting comes out [as]. Shawn Levy was brilliant; we worked together for a couple months on it… There was a lot of pressure because I’ve got friends over there at Sony, Jonathan Kadin, obviously Tom Rothman and I go way back, Doug Belgrad—these are like my guys. So I felt an additional weight of like, ‘I gotta deliver them something they’ll make.’ It’s got four of the most insane—I’ve never written crazier shit in terms of an action sequence than what’s in that movie… I’m very happy with the script, and listen it was important that I got Amy Hennig’s approval, her and Nolan North, and what I’ve heard is the Naughty Dog guys are really happy with it. But who knows? That could be like Donald Trump hearing something; that may not be true at all.”

So it does appear at the very least that Druckmann is skeptical about the game being made into a fil. If that is indeed the case , than I agree with him as not at all game’s translate into good movies , and it does appear likely that we may have yet another video game movie adaptation disaster on our hands.
