Two New Set Locations For Game Of Thrones Season 7

Game Of Thrones Season 7

We are well into production for season 7 of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Filming is underway in Belfast and several cast members have dropped tidbits of what we can expect from the craziest season yet. Emilia Clarke already teased a big battle which may be on par with Hardhome and Battle of the Bastards.

Thanks to fansite Watchers on the Wall, we have some information about two upcoming battles

The production team was seeking extras in the Malpartida de Cáceres region in Spain mainly to play the Unsullied. There were also numerous calls for horses which no doubt indicates the Dothraki.

According to Los Siete Reino, a large battle will be filmed at Las Breñas, northeast of Los Barruecos National Monument by the sea. There are also rumors that at least one dragon will take part in the battle. For individual scenes featuring fewer cast members, filming will take place in the aquatic location of Los Barruecos. This battle undoubtedly involves Daenerys Targaryen which may herald her arrival in Westeros following the events of season 6.

There are also reports of another battle. Trujillo Castle, the heart of the town of Trujillo which features medieval and renaissance buildings has been chosen as another filming location. It is still not known which location in George RR Martin’s world Trujillo castle will portray but over 100 extras are set to take part in filming. Watchers on the Wall are of the opinion that Trujillo Castle is unlikely to be a part of  Westeros which indicates it may be a part of the Eastern continent of Essos. It will be interesting to see of how Essos is involved in the show after all of the major characters set sail for Westeros towards the end of the last season.

Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark spoke about Game of Thrones while at the red carpet at the Emmys, teasing how season seven will have even more deaths.
