The Uncharted series is mostly known for the charismatic, adrenaline junkie that is Nathan Drake. And that’s only fair because he has been the main protagonist for the entire series, up till now that is. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy seems to take on a different story than
Nathan’s and brings spotlight to Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross. There was much criticism as to why Nathan wasn’t cast as the protagonist in this standalone DLC and Naughty Dog explained exactly why that was:
“The reason we moved away from Drake was that we felt we wrapped that story up on Uncharted 4, And that’s really the motivation to find a new cast of characters that could actually carry on the Uncharted legacy.”, Said Naughty Dog Creative Director Shaun Excayg.
“Uncharted is more than just Nathan Drake, And I think maybe it makes people think a little bit differently about the Uncharted series as far as what they think of when they think of Uncharted.”, This is what the Game Director Kurt Margenau had to say.
All of this was explained in a new video that explored deep into the development of The Lost Legacy. The game began development as a DLC but it expanded into a fully standalone release as it progressed through time. The characters had so much depth that the developers thought that they deserve a standalone game which does justice to the setting and story.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is due to release on 22 August exclusively for the PS4 (and the Pro) so be sure to pick it up to experience Chloe and Nadine’s adventure to find the Tusk of Ganesha. Stay tuned for more!
