We May Yet Get To See A Speedster In The Flash Season 4

CW and its superhero shows are doing bad in the ratings and viewership. The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and The Legends of Tomorrow, all received unimpressive ratings. While the Flash had the highest rating among all these shows we feel that it might not be sustainable.

The first three seasons of Flash were quite similar in terms of the villains. In the first season we saw the Reverse Flash, in the second we saw Zoom and in the third we saw Savitar. All the villains were speedsters. The storyline while different followed the same pattern. Fans now want something different and may be fed up with the repetitive concept.

In The Flash Season 4 however things have changed. The Thinker is expected to be the main antagonist now. The Thinker instead of using sheer strength will use his mind to become a psychological challenge for the Flash. The Thinker would be a more advanced version of the Riddler. But we feel he may not be the main villain and may be working for someone else.

Todd Helbing in an interview to the Comicbook.com revealed that speedsters were the core competency of the show and we might just see them popping up in the show from nowhere. He regarding the issue said that “But I mean there’s certainly speedsters in the cannon of Flash that we want to explore and we want on the show and everybody…” Helbing said. “Like Reverse Flash to me personally is one of my favorite villains, one of my favorite speedsters, so I’d love that guy to pop up now and then, you know what I mean? But I think it was refreshing, and it’s just been a lot of fun this year not having to constantly come up with new ideas of how a speedster could pose a threat to Barry. So, it’s fun, and it’s new, and it’s a new challenge, but I think having speedsters in the mythology of the show is never going to change.”

Speedster villains it seems are going to be part and parcel for The Flash, with the thinker however there are new possibilities to explore and a new direction which the show can take to remain fresh and relevant in the eyes of the viewers.

The addition of The Thinker this season makes sense and it will be interesting to see how events unravel in The Flash Season 4
