Take Two Executive Explains Red Dead Redemption 2 Delay

Red Dead

News broke yesterday that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be delayed , however this was in no way surprising as many had already predicted for this to happen . Here is what developers Rockstar Games had to say about the delay faced by Red Dead Redemption 2.

“We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of new screenshots from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.”

Today in a conference call to present the financial earnings for the 3rd quarter it appeared that the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2’s delay resulted in Take Two’s share prices dropping down 5.6% to $65.16.

Chief Executive Strauss Zelnick said he was utterly confident that they made the right decision and the delay was due to the developers ensuring the best possible experience for the fans . Here is what he had to say about Red Dead Redemption 2’s delay

“…Red Dead Redemption 2 will be their first game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that they deliver the best experience possible,”

However the delay is not expected to impact the sales of the game as Jeffries analysts indicates that the delay is down to Rockstar’s  perfectionism rather than anything else.

“We attribute this slip to Rockstar’s infamous perfectionism and don’t think it changes the overall unit sales potential for the game,”

There was also talk about 2K Games releasing a new IP , however we will have to see how that develops in the near future.

All in all it does appear that the delay will only increase the hype for Red Dead Redemption 2 , and when it does arrive next year it will be one of the must have titles no matter which console you own.
