Take-Two have been known to be amongst some of the greatest publishers in the industry, the largest achievement of which has been the Grand Theft Auto series. GTA V is a cult classic amongst gamers that still play and enjoy the game (largely due to massive online support and content) to this day even after a couple years after initial release. As of recently though, the game’s steam reviews have started to decline as many fans are outraged at Take-Two.
Recent reviews for GTA V show that there are as of writing this more than 20K “Mostly Negative” reactions. This recent outburst of negative reviews is the result of the recent action Take-Two took to ban OpenIV, an immensely popular modding base tool in the community that basically made all of the mods happen for the game. A lot of the playerbase was upset about this and are making it clear that they will not support the publisher in the future unless they review and change their views about community mods. Here is a screenshot of the negative reviews which are steadily gaining pace.
A petition was signed recently to unban OpenIV and it has already gained 20,000 supporters and is almost on it’s way to be signed with a goal of 25,000 signatures. Take-Two have also faced a lot of backlash online due to this step and Rockstar have, since then, released a statement addressing this.
“Take-Two’s actions were not specifically targeting single player mods. Unfortunately, OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody. We are working to figure out how we can continue to support the creative community without negatively impacting our players”
There is still no word from Take-Two about this but the petition to unban OpenIV still is open and going strong. Would you like the modding tool OpenIV to be unbanned again for GTA V? Let us know in the comments section below!
