After Star Wars Battlefront’s lukewarm reception, developer is looking to make things right with the sequel and has given fans two huge new reasons to buy the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 2.
As the game’s November 17 release date draws closer, DICE producer Craig McLeod has reassured fans that Battlefront 2 won’t die out like the first game.
“A lot of people found that with the original Battlefront, after a few months of play, they lacked the long-term goals” he said. “So these are things that we are really trying to make sure we nail in this new game.”
It has already been confirmed that Battlefront 2 will have a story mode, a feature that the previous game didn’t have, and a wider scope of source material. But the game will require a steady stream of new content and support from the devs if it is to remain succesful after launch.
According to what McLeod says, this may be true. “The ambition here that we’ve managed to achieve is something I never thought would be able to be realised when I worked in games. I am just incredibly proud of that.”
But hold on, this isn’t the only new reason to pick up Battlefront 2. Fans will also be excited to hear that DICE is re-structuring the way flying works in the game. DICE has already hyped up the games appearance at Gamescom this year, where they will showcase gameplay from the new Starfighter Assault mode.
“Teams will face off in a swirling dogfight in the Fondor: Imperial Shipyard map, weaving around an Imperial Star Destroyer complete with speedy fighters, thundering bombers, distinct hero ships and more” a post described.
The event will be livestreamed on August 21 at 5:30 PM UK time, and will reveal the “vastly improved starfighter combat, with superior controls, deeper customization, and role based team play featuring an all new class based system.”
