PS4 Update 5.01

Trophy hunters who like to collect shiny platinums are now in for a treat as the Sony Rewards Program lets you earn Reward Points by earning trophies! The credits can then be traded in the PSN Store for games, DLCs and much more.

Sony just updated their Rewards Program to include earning points through trophies for gamers who are willing to collect them. Silver, Gold and Platinum trophies will all get you points for credit while Bronze trophies aren’t included in the program. The point value for each trophy is fair considering that it is indeed free stuff that we’re getting in return.

The point distributions is as follows: a 1000 silver trophies will net you 100 points and 25 gold will give you 250, while 10 platinums will give you a 1000 points. A 1000 points is the equivalent of $10 on the PSN Store and players can cash that in to get whatever they want (not a lot but hey! free stuff) and it might even get you a relatively older AAA title on sale.

The program does have some limitations as in that it is only available in the United States as of now and that any points or trophies earned before opting for the program will not be counted towards your actual earned credits. You can go and opt for the program on your PlayStation Network Account settings right now to make sure you’re getting points while getting trophies or getting points through other means (purchases etc).

This is definitely a good step from Sony towards passionate players who try to get everything possible from their favorite games. Players now have an incentive towards getting the platinum, apart from the obvious bragging rights that it brings.
