Remakes more often than not don’t live up to the expectation of modern day consoles. The technological advancements and more savvy customers have led to a new era of gaming. This new era has created stiff competition and innovation is always looked upon as the distinguishing factor between an ordinary and an extraordinary offering. Hence more often than not seen as a rehashing of an already told story. Fortunately one title seems to have broken that perception.
Shadow of the Colossus is one name that is familiar to the PS4. The game had a tremendous impact on the audience and managed to create a cult following. Its considered as a classic and one of the greatest games of all time. But early reports suggest that the remake of Shadow of the Colossus has created an even bigger impact with the audiences.
The remake released on the PS4 and in the early days sales are over the roof. The game was a hit back when it was released on 2006. But the latest release shows that physical game sales are up 73% when compared with the original’s release 12 years ago. In modern times, the world has become technologically more advanced and hence to cater to those challenges and exceed expectations is a fantastic achievement. The above mentioned percentage increase does not take into account the digital sales. If that is also included as part of our analysis the number will definitely improve further.
The feature of a great brand is that it has long term viability. Managers who have a short term vision turn the brand to their advantage for short term gains. Loyalty and resonance however is only achieved when you take a long term approach. Shadow of the Colossus is clearly a brand that has a high level resonance among its followers.
