Supernatural has had over 12 seasons now. As the season progressed, we saw multiple new biblical characters added to the TV show. The show that had started as a mystery and detective type of show took a major diversion exploring in more detail about the supernatural. Now, the show is returning for its thirteenth season and it seems that it might go back to its original theme.

Yes that’s right, the show might bring back its mystery and detective theme back. But makes it so interesting is how exactly the producers aim to do this. Scooby-Doo apparently will make his way to the thirteenth season of Supernatural. An animated crossover is expected to take place allowing Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) to team up with Scooby-Doo in an animated episode.

The idea of bringing Scooby-Doo to Supernatural isn’t old. According to Comicbook.com the idea of bringing Scooby-Doo was discussed as early as season 4. Andrew Dabb co show runner of Supernatural indicated that Jeremy Adam’s pitch about bringing a Scooby-Doo cross over allowed things to click. Dabb regarding the issue said that “Andrew [Dabb] knew some guys over at Warner Bros. Animation and they floated this idea. We took it to Warner Bros. and asked, ‘What do you think?’ and everybody got really excited about it. They guys have already recorded their parts and, I think, the Scooby-Doo people have already recorded their parts.”

This really is big news and a crossover could truly raise the popularity of Supernatural. Supernatural’s original concept and Scooby-Doo might complement each other well can could truly be amazing. There are also reports that the show could also incorporate a darker version of Scooby-Doo. This makes sense as most of the viewers of Scooby-Doo will now be all grown up and would be expecting something darker.

Either way, this is a massive throwback to the fans who grew up watching Scooby-Doo back when it was on Cartoon Network. This adds about a nostalgic factor amongst the fans of both shows and they are already excited about it when the Supernatural team talked about it at SDCC 2017.
