Director Fury may have just leaked the potential return of the main villain from Captain America: The First Avenger, The Red Skull to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During an interview with Hot 97, Samuel L. Jackson was questioned regarding his involvement in the upcoming Black Panther movie.

His response was:

“No! They’re not letting my black ass go through Wakanda. I was trying. I asked. I was like, ‘What do you mean?’… You didn’t see me in Civil War, I’m still out there trying to figure out what the Skull is doing…”

Did Jackson just refer to the Red Skull in his comments?

We all know just about anything’s possible in the comicbook world so a return from the dead wouldn’t exactly be that farfetched of an idea. Last we saw Hugo Weaving’s character in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger he was incinerated after making contact with the Tesseract. This wouldn’t exactly be the first time the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s will have faked a character’s death as Jackson’s own Nick Fury did in The Winter Soldier. Agent Phil Colson was also killed in the first Avengers film only to be resurrected to star in Marvel’s Agents Of Shield. The franchise has also introduced the magical realm recently with Doctor Strange, so it shouldn’t really be that hard for some screenwriter to come up with a logical method to resurrect the villain.

The question now is whether it is worth bringing him back at all. Currently the storylines from around the MCU are all set to converge in Avenger’s Infinty war and I seriously doubt the Red Skull will have any significance in front of Thanos who is the biggest baddy of the lot in the MCU. What do you guys think? Would you like to see Hugo Weaving return as the Red Skull? Let us know in the comments below.
