Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is finally coming to the Xbox One this December through Xbox Game Preview! The game will be available for Xbox One users on December 12, marking the first time PUBG will come out on consoles, all the while in early access through Xbox’s Game preview program which lets early access games available to their audience (much like Steam Early-Access).
The CEO of PUBG Corp was really excited to share the release date for the Xbox One version of the date and detailing some of the changes that the console version will have. His post on the Xbox blog stated how this version is going to be a bit different from the PC version for it to be exciting for the console audience. There will be slight differences (although unknown at this point) in both the versions.
“Both versions are being developed at the same time, but they both have their own separate roadmaps. Various Xbox One features and functionality will change and come online over time just like they have on PC, with our goal being to have both versions align to each other as soon as possible.”
To celebrate PUBG being launched on the Xbox One, the devs teamed up with Xbox to release special cosmetic packs exclusively for Xbox fans (all of which are limited edition). These are all for a limited time as the PUBG version for Xbox One through Game Preview will have no in-game purchases whatsoever.
The Xbox One version will be released in retails as Brendan Green (PlayerUnknown) announced at TwitchCon, he said that “seeing your game in a store is going to be cool”. PUBG has done excessively well in terms of sales since launch with 15 million copies sold and an all-time high of 2 million concurrent players. With the Xbox One release, those numbers are only going to grow.
