PUBG has been a smash hit ever since it has released. A testament to its success is the fact that 10 Million copies of the game were sold all the while being in Early Access on Steam. The Early Access was released back in March and the game is still selling at a phenomenal pace. Usually most devs raise the price of the game after its success. However that doesnt seem to be the game with Bluehole’s PUBG.
Designer Brendan Greene is hoping to reach 100 Million Players a milestone achieved by Riot’s League of Legends with the massively popular free-to-play MOBA reaching a 100 Million Players monthly back in 2016 and the way that the game is selling that target not only seems achievable but there is a good chance that tPUBG might even exceed those sales target.
While talking to GamesIndustry.biz he stated
“Our sales curves are just going up”. “They’re not slowing down. I’m still waiting for that plateau, and it’s just not happening yet. When you ask about growth on PC, I just look at League of Legends. 100 million active users a month, I think, something stupid like that? If we play our cards right, maybe we can get to that level of users.”
Currently PUBG 30$ and there are at present no plans to raise the price despite the games success.Brendan Stated that there are currently no plans to raise the price on its full release when it departs Early Access but the price could be subjected to change Greene further added “We’re happy. $30 is a good price for what you’re getting, and this is a game that could last for five or ten years. You’re buying into something bigger than just a year-long game”.
The Korean Based Studios will release an Xbox One Version of the game in “late 2017” with Microsoft Publishing it although it might be coming to other platforms too despite Microsoft’s announcement (no further details have been confirmed).
Bluehole Studios continues to update the game with new content for the PC version with a new Desert map heading our way as well.
PUBG has been a great underdog story, and this is why the gaming community absolutely adores the game and its player base will undoubtedly continue to increase.
