Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of Pokémon Games has announced that the company will be developing games for the upcoming console, Nintendo NX. This isn’t much of a shock keeping in mind the unrivalled success of Pokémon Go. Previously, the ties of the company with NX were labeled as just rumors but now it has been confirmed by the chief executive.
“The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device,” said CEO Pokemon Co. Tsunekazu Ishihara in a recent interview for The Wall Street Jounal “We will make games for the NX.”
The highly captivating thing about the CEO’s quote is not just his confirmation but also his description for the upcoming console.
There are hints from Nintendo that the console might be a replacement for 3DS as well as Wii U; some official hardware information has been revealed. However, in a Eurogamer report, a lot of unofficial information was leaked during the summer that claimed that the NX is going to be a portable console with a display and a set of detachable controllers. Although the confirmation from Ishihara are imprecise but certainly are able to be applied to the description of the product that was leaked during the summer.
The CEO of Pokémon Games did not give much information about whether or not the team of development will already have something prepared to the launch of NX in March 2017 nor did he say anything about the type of games we are likely to see during the lifespan of the console.
