Games that are able to take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s capabilities will ship with a special logo on the game case. The logo will also show up on the PlayStation store as well, making it easier for fans and newbies alike to find games that are optimized for the new console. The box art (pictured below) is a reminiscent of Sony’s previous consoles.
“Look for the ‘PS4TM Pro Enhanced’ icon on software packaging.’PS4TM Pro Enhanced’ features varies by game. Select titles may have enhanced visuals, frame rate, HDR 10 support, or increases in resolution.” says Sony.
It is worth mentioning that the games are not exclusive to the PS4 Pro consoles, and that the games built to support the enhanced configurations will still work on your standard PS4 as well. The logo just represents the fact that it supports the graphical capabilities, frame rate and other qualities that the PS4 Pro has to offer.
A Sony developer also clarified that some games will require patches to make them PS4 Pro enhanced. Until a few days ago it was unclear whether these patches will be distributed for free. However it has since been clarified that there indeed will be free upgrades.Hence fans and enthusiasts alike can breathe easy that Sony won’t be charging them for potential future upgrades.
