PlayStation 4 Pro Enhanced Games To Have Special Box Art

Games that are able to take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s capabilities will ship with a special logo on the game case. The logo will also show up on the PlayStation store as well, making it easier for fans and newbies alike to find games that are optimized for the new console. The box art (pictured below) is a reminiscent of Sony’s previous consoles.

PS4 Pro

“Look for the ‘PS4TM Pro Enhanced’ icon on software packaging.’PS4TM Pro Enhanced’ features varies by game. Select titles may have enhanced visuals, frame rate, HDR 10 support, or increases in resolution.” says Sony.
It is worth mentioning that the games are not exclusive to the PS4 Pro consoles, and that the games built to support the enhanced configurations will still work on your standard PS4 as well. The logo just represents the fact that it supports the graphical capabilities, frame rate and other qualities that the PS4 Pro has to offer.
A Sony developer also clarified that some games will require patches to make them PS4 Pro enhanced. Until a few days ago it was unclear whether these patches will be distributed for free. However it has since been clarified that there indeed will be free upgrades.Hence fans and enthusiasts alike can breathe easy that Sony won’t be charging them for potential future upgrades.
Initially reaction to the PS4 Pro has been a bit of a mixed bag, and it remains to be seen whether they can maintain their position at the top of the summit. Let us know your opinions by commenting in the comments section below.

all this for 1080p upscaled games?all the ps4 pro is another 1080p console upscaled.you are paying for upscaled 30fps..lol here is joker telling you how they are going to upscales 1080p.

It’s not 1080p upscaled.. Games on Pro are rendered natively at significantly higher resolution, and then ran through a 4k frame buffer using checkerboard image reconstruction and parallax processing… The minimum native resolution for the 4k up scaling is 1800p, while other games will target 4k as close as possible with even higher resolutions, 1890p, 1980p, 2070p, and a pseudo 4k resolution of 3460 x 2160p…

      • Hvd

its upscaled from 1080p the gpu is a down clocked rx 480 which can barley do 1440p…lol

wow they got you fooled you are paying $400 for upscaled 30fps…lmao

again the video tells you how they do it its upscaled 1080p.if you think otherwise you are in full denial…lmao

here it is again. at 3:00 joker tells you thats its 1080p with temporal filtering its still upscaled from 1080p..lol

You are VERY VERY VERY missinformed, the information comes directly from Sony’s own development notes on how to best get performance out of the system, temporal AA solutions, Parallax Processing and checkerboard rendering are all very much used. The system can render at and far above 1080p natively… telling us what brand of GPU it is does little in making your point, especially when this is a console and not a PC. There’s also the fact that a few games are natively 4k, and support modern game design techniques, such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Elder Scrolls Online, and Watch_Dogs 2. If you’re unfamiliar with what I’m talking about I do suggest educating yourself on the design philosophies of the Pro and how Sony used the machine to deliver something capable of taking advantage of 4k, It’s no secret that the vast amount of software that will be released will not be native 4k, by design it simply doesn’t have that kind of power but native 4k can and still be achieved, most games will achieve 4k by use of rendering closer to the 4k resolutions…. for reference, have a look directly at the PS4 Neo/Pro Documents, released back in April via a leak and then made publicly available in July. I’ve attached 3 excerpts from the developer documents sent out by Sony on the Neo/Pro. Please try and refute that..

no you are just VERY VERY blind and bias.this isnt my video this is a video from a pc guy not a bias fan boy.if you didnt watch the video at 3:00 he tells you how its upscaled its not 1440p only an idiot would think thats irts 1440p its 1080p upscaed.

here is how they did it if you are to blind to watch the video temporal filtering is how they upscales from 1080p.your just to blind to see it.it downt matter tho the truth about the 4400 upscales 30fps console is out.

          • Sev Davis

How am I blind when my source comes DIRECTLY from SONY’S own Engineering team and LEAD system Architect that created the documents and passes on the recommendations for getting the most out of the system?

Again sir… refer to my the 3 attachments below and READ them… you’re not just being biased but blatantly ignorant as well. I will take Sony’s own released and proven documents over a PC guy’s video explanation of Temporal AA…

          • Hvd

your whole post is why you are blind you actually think sony is going to tell u the truth thats its upscaled from 1080p? the link is from a pc guy thats not bias or blind.and you are still a blind fan boy.

im just letting the truth out about what the console is its 1080p upscaled.

          • Aenea

A PC guy that is not biased? LOL, that would be a first!

Anyhoo, it doesn’t matter if someone is not biased, when he’s wrong, he’s wrong.

DEVELOPER documentation leaked on the internet. You really believe Sony is going to lie to developers what is possible and what is not? Are you insane?

Is Eurogame/DigitalFoundy biased? Go read their article!

Go read my earlier post again and tell me why my post doesn’t make sense!

You can’t or you won’t, you just do not want to entertain the notion that you’re wrong.

          • Sev Davis

And this is the last I’ll comment on this because it seems you ignore facts to put up your own agenda which from the onset of this thread was trolling. Good day to you tho

        • Aenea

Yes, Hvd, you keep posting that video everywhere, but the problem with the video is, however, that what that guys says is incorrect.

Even if I link you to an article written by people who know a heck of a lot more about graphics than this dude and you even combined, you still keep believing this video is correct.

But think about it for a second. If that dude was right (and you too) then why is the PS4 Pro even needed to let those games output a better image in 4k? I mean, the PS4 can already do 1080p for most games anyways, so that 2.3 times the extra power isn’t needed…

So, perhaps they are using something totally different?

Yes, they do. There are several different things they can do, one is checkerboard rendering, and this video is somewhat right in that regard, but it’s not using 1920×1080 for that, it’s using either 1920×2160 or 3840×1080, then merge the two frames every frame. This means it has to render twice the number of pixels per single frame than in regular 1920×1080 resolution. This requires no upscaling whatsoever.

One of the other methods is using a frame buffer to render to with sizes of, for instance, 1800p/1890p/1980p/2070p and then upscaling to 2160p.

Now, you can keep spreading this BS, but it’s nonsense.

          • Hvd

and yet you are reading the same posts every where probally to troll when guess what this isnt my video some on who isnt a bias fab boy made it im just linking it..lamo.its 1080p upscaled. nothing more.

its called temporal filtering if you watched the video you will know that thats how they upscales from 1080p.you are just in denial but the truth about the ps4 pro is now out there..lol

          • Aenea

You didn’t read my post huh? You probably also didn’t that article from DigitalFoundry, right? Probably too long or too technical?

I’m interested in the PS4 Pro so it’s natural that I look at articles about it. I clicked on your name and saw that you’ve been spamming that incorrect video on more than one site, many I’ve never visited, so yes, it does seem you’re on a crusade!

And there’s only 1 person who is in denial here 🙂

          • Hvd

digital foundry is sony bias next thing you will tell me is a metia critic score. my link was from a pc non bias guy and shows you what atey are doing with temporal filtering to upscales from 1080p.

you actually thing i will believe a bias site like digital foundry?

3:00 he starts to explain in detail how they are upscaling 1080p.you cant get around the facts.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeHuWSwrHIM

          • Aenea

Why would you even believe this dude knows what he’s talking about? What credentials does he have? Where did he get the info from? Could he have heard things and then assumed it is the way he’s explaining it? Could that in any way be a possibility for you that he made the wrong assumptions?

Yes, one of the methods of achieving output in 4k is something that sounds similar to what he’s explaining, but it’s using a different method with a different sized frame buffer (twice the size of regular 1080p). There are also other methods like I explained to you earlier.

Why would you believe some random dude?

Why do you believe Sony is actively lying to developers in their development documentation?

            Think for yourself for once!

But hey, whatever, keep your delusional ideas…

          • Hvd

i already told you you just arnt smart ehough to figure it out..lol and you never will…lol

          • Aenea

            OMG!

“I can’t win an argument so I will resort to insults instead”

I’m giving you evidence of what I’m claiming in the form of developer documentation, I give you a link describing on a technical level what the Pro does, I even thought trying to reason it out with you and appeal to your intelligence.

But nope, you will be stubborn, not read anything, they are all biased or lying and all you base it on is some PC dude who makes videos on the internet. Has to be true then isn’t it? It’s on the internet after all! And this guy has no stake in either Xbox or PlayStation, he prefers PC’s! Wait? He prefers PC’s? ehhh, ok, sure, he’s unbiased… *shakes head*

Keep fighting tho! Your dreams and fantasies will be crushed in the end…

          • Hvd

            nothing buy paying $400 for upscaled 30fps.the ps4 pro…lmao 1080p upscaled.

its 1440p upscaled to 4K not 1080p, get the correct info before you start trolling like a joker that isn’t funny at al

          • Aenea

            Multiple personalities huh?

          • Aenea
    • Section8

They can also make games in native 4k without upscaling if they wish.

      • Hvd

indies and 5 years old remasters yea…lol not modern games.

        • Section8

Horizon Zero Dawn will be in native 4k. 🙂

          • Hvd

            lolololololololololol

          • Section8

They even said it. On stage. They’re footage was in native 4k.

          • Hvd

then they should be sued for false advertising because its not…lol
