PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds or more commonly known as “PUBG” is one of the most played games on Steam and has gone on to achieve which most games can only dream about.

The game by Blue Hole studios has racked as the second most played game and the third game to have 800,000 concurrent players. It pushed aside Counter Strike Global Offensive and now holds the title of the Second-highest players at peak in history of the platform. The only remaining obstacle in its path was Dota 2 which has now been going strong for a considerable amount of time.

But that changed this weekend when Brendan Greene a.k.a “PlayerUnknown” tweeted out that PUBG had made its way to the top in terms of most concurrent players with a massive of  877,844 players enjoying the battle royale trumping the 842,919 players of Dota 2.

This is an absolute phenomenal achievement , given the fact that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds came out of nowhere and has gone on to topple the giants of the industry , and it shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. The growth has been phenomenal , and with Bluehole’s ongoing plans for expansion the game will undoubtedly continue to grow.

The game also is currently the second most watched game on the streaming platform Twitch , and recently showed of its first person mode to a mixed reaction at best. However constant innovation and 

PUBG has been in early access for about 5 months and has sold 8 Million Copies of the game and the most exciting news of all is that the game is also coming to XBOX whose release date has yet to be announced.

The foray into the console market  is another way through with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will enhance its reputation, and its encouraging to see the game doing so well and becoming an international phenomena.

Goes to show that with a little hardwork and dedication the Underdog can go a long way.
