Ever since PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was first listed in Steam back in March, it has been one of the most successful indie games ever on the platform. The innovation of the game nearly perfects the battle royale concept that was the centre of attention of many games and mods since such a long time. The game has received immense appraise from players and it is also getting an Xbox One version soon.
PUBG is destroying the Steam charts even though it’s still in early access. It recently got ranked as the 4th most played game on Steam, toppling the massive name that was GTA V and entering the competition with the likes of Payday 2 and Left 4 Dead 2.
The official twitter account for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds reported this accomplishment via a tweet which showed how they were ahead of GTA V in the numbers of concurrent players at a time. The game hit 382,561 concurrent players (an all-time high) this month surpassing GTA V’s 360,761.
PUBG is still resting at third, below Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Dota, and above GTA V and H1Z1: King of the Hill. The full official release of the game is sure to have an even positive impact on these numbers as the developers have promised to bring much more content in the future. The audience for the game has growing ever since launch.
With the game sitting in the Steam “Best Sellers” charts and an impending Xbox One version coming up, we are definitely excited for what more PUBG has to offer in the future. Stay tuned for more!
