NPD Report For July: Switch And Splatoon 2 Lead The Charts

Another month comes to an end and NPD has released their sales report for the month of July for North America. Splatoon 2 splashed on to the scene and is on top of the sales charts along with it’s very own platform, the Switch, which leads in hardware sales in June. The game has moved from the 4th spot to the 2nd only in the launch month which is pretty impressive.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy came before Splatoon 2 at an immensely high position on the sales charts and both the games have been responsible for a total of 19% increase in softwares sales yearly for Activision. Other releases of the month include Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age which started at 4th on the list and is still there, it is at number 2 on the list of PS4 games. Square Enix acknowledged the fact that the game had good sales worldwide.

Tekken 7, a topper on the list, has moved to the number 20 spot while Injustice 2 still stays strong in the top 10 list. There’s been almost a 50% increase in the sales of RPG games since last year, mainly because of the releases of Horizon:Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Nier: Automata and somehow Mass Effect: Andromeda (we don’t know why).

Nintendo Switch is the most sold hardware for this month and it seems reasonable with the release of Splatoon 2 and the upcoming release of a huge list of games that are going to be available for the platform in the future.
