The Nintendo Switch has been having a great launch year with the console performing better than expectations thanks to some stellar titles such as Zelda BOTW , and Splatoon 2 amongst others. The consoles success also depends on the hybrid nature , with it being a unique novelty for most.
Nintendo has recently released its financial statements for the 3 month period which began from 1st April and ended on 3oth June. The report shows that the Nintendo Switch has sold 4.7 Million units. It was previously estimated that the Switch would sell somewhere around 10 Million units by March 2018. With these sales figures it does look like Nintendo Switch is on track to not only meet, but exceeds its targets as well.
The Nintendo exclusives which sold the most was the critically acclaimed The Legend Of Zelda: BOTW which sold around 3.92 million units. With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and ARMS following suit. Splatoon 2 was not included in the sales figure due to its recent release, however it will be very interesting to see how the game performs and how many units it sells in the next quarterly statements.
Over on the business side of things Nintendo as a company cumulatively collected around $1.3 billion which roughly translates to a 148% increase Year over Year.
Nintendo also highlighted that Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey will be amongst its key titles for the rest of the year. With Super Mario Odyssey particularly being on the radar of nearly every other Nintendo and gaming fan in general, With Splatoon 2 performing admirable , it will be interesting to see how the title performs when it comes out later in the year.
