Nintendo Switch Outsells PS4 And Xbox One In September; More Than 2 Million Consoles Sold

Nintendo went a little ahead of the NPD Group and released a couple of sales statements before the group could release their monthly report for September 2017. The company was very excited to announce that they beat the two current-gen consoles that it is competing against (PS4 and Xbox One) in the United States for the month of September 2017 and topped hardware sales too! The hybrid  Nintendo Switch combined with sales from both the 3DS and SNES Classic Edition made it to the top of the hardware charts.

NPD Reports are almost always put forward with one or two press releases in which companies tend to juggle with their numbers in most cases. Nintendo, it seems, has been backed up by the NPD reports regarding their claims of outselling both the PS4 and Xbox One for quite some time now! This is the third time in a row that the Nintendo Switch has outsold the competition and the fifth time that it has happened in the short (seven month) but glorious time of availability for the console.

There aren’t any official numbers out to verify this but Nintendo has said that more than 2 million Switch units have been sold in the US since launch and that is one great feat to achieve in only seven months. Other than the Switch, the other hardware (consoles) that Nintendo sold made up for two-thirds of all the hardware sales inside the United States.

Nintendo has been killing it in the software department too with their exclusives selling like hotcakes! Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is already a contender for game of the year and considering how much it raked in for Nintendo along with the likes of Mario Kart 8, Mario + Rabbids: Kindgom Battle and more (Super Mario Odyssey is right around the corner too!).

Let us know if you’re going to pick up the Switch this holiday season in the comments section below and stay tuned for more!
