According to a report, the Nintendo Switch was topping the charts in console sales in the month of March in the US. This was the launch month for Nintendo’s new console and it overtook the PS4 and Xbox One in terms of sale during this period as reported by Game Revolution. Not only this, but the Nintendo Switch also became the fastest-selling  console for the company.

There are no details in terms of units sold provided but it is reported that PS4 won the race over Xbox One for the fifth consecutive month in sales. Microsoft and Sony both withheld the numbers regarding sales but Microsoft did say that the January-March 2017 had been extremely favourable for them. There were a record 1.1 billion multiplayer hours logged in on Xbox Live which accumulates an increase of a whooping 14% each year.

With the upcoming release of Xbox One Scorpio later this year, the numbers might favour Microsoft as they release their highly anticipated 4K console. Microsoft have released a statement that says that they have a lot coming up down the lane for this year.

“Looking ahead, we are excited to share more about our plans for Xbox One, including launching the world’s most powerful console–Project Scorpio–alongside an amazing lineup of new Xbox One games. We are thrilled with the incredible response we have received to date for Project Scorpio, and look forward to sharing more about the Xbox One family of devices in the coming months,”

This is what Mark Nichols, head of marketing for Xbox, had to say. The NPD Group, the same one responsible for these sales figures and news, will release statistics for the top-selling games of March 2017. Which games do you think will lead the charts?
