Nintendo Switch Could Be A “Game-changer” Says Gamestop CEO Paul Raines


The hype for Nintendo’s new console the Switch is off the charts, with many renowned figures praising the console, and the innovation that it has brought forth. And now it appears that the Switch has found yet another famous fan in retailer Gamestop. Here what it’s CEO Paul Raines had to say about the Switch.

“The Nintendo Switch, which I played at Nintendo a few weeks ago–we believe could be another game-changer that will expand the audience for gaming,”

During the meeting it was also revealed that Gamestop Powerup reward members were extremely interested in the Switch and that around 27% of them are actually interested in buying the console. This pre-launch intent metric is keeping in line with the Xbox One at similar points in time.

The company also indicated that this figure has the potential to go even higher , after Nintendo’s Switch news event which is scheduled for January of next year. Nintendo will be unveiling the console’s price, specs and its launch lineup at the event.

Raines though is not the only Industry insider who has had praise for the Switch, amongst others Microsoft’s Xbox division head Phil Spencer and Bethesda’s Todd Howard have praised the console as well. With Todd Howard recently saying that he had played the console this year at E3 and it probably had the best demo he has ever seen.

Furthermore Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot previously said that the Switch has the potential to “redefine gaming”. And Square Enix and Sega amongst other developers are extremely excited about the Switch’s potential and can’t wait to start developing games for it.

It does seem that the Nintendo Switch will be a gaming console which will make others stand up and take notice. Only time will tell though if it will be a success.The Switch goes on sale in March 2017, let us know your opinions by commenting in the comments section below.
