The newest update from Nintendo Australia came out today from a press release which was that the new console of Nintendo i.e. Nintendo Switch broke sales record in Australia and New Zealand and it was confirmed by the following text:
“Across Australia and New Zealand combined, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history.”
The new console had a hot start, seemingly. Nintendo America’s president, Reggie Fils-Aime told The New York Times reporter Nick Wingfield during the week that the beginning sales for March 3rd and 4th in the Americas outpaced the initial 2-day sales in the region for any system in the history of the company. The other closest were the sales of Wii which were a huge hit as well with more than 100 million sales till date.
Fils-Aime additionally said that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the sole best-selling launch title for the Nintendo platform since the history! There was no particular unit number shared by him but it did outperform Super Mario 64 for Nintendo 64.
For the Wii, Wii Sports did real good than Super Mario 64 or Breath of the Wild since it came in a bundle offer with the console but the stats we’re mentioning here aren’t for bundled titled and we would like to bring to the fact that Switch does not have any bundled games.
A huge effort was made by Nintendo in order to push the Switch since the commercial aired during the Super Bowl this year in which John Cena was the endorsing celebrity.
As per the Famitsu article, the Switch basically sold around 330637 units in the initial three days in Japan. Whereas, Breath of the Wild shifted 190060 physical copied over the same period.
