It seems Assassin’s Creed Origins isn’t the only game which has recently decided to head to the Egyptian era.In the latest issue of Game Informer Cory Barlog talked about how the God Of War franchise might be headed to the Egyptian or Mayan era in the near future.
For those of you unaware the God of War franchise will be heading to the Norse era after Kratos took down the Gods of Olympus. Speaking to Game Informer in it’s latest issue SIE Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog talked about how the franchise might be heading to the Egyptian or the Mayan era in the near future.
“The Greek games were the Greek era of God of War,” Barlog said in the latest issue of Game Informer. “Moving on, the next mythological belief system he interacts with became the Norse era of God of War. But we may end up going on to the Egyptian era and the Mayan era and so on and so forth.”
There are a lot of if’s and buts here but a potential God of War game in the realms of the pharaohs is an absolutely mouth watering concept. Imagine Kratos taking on Anubis or Anket or any of the other Egyptian Gods or even Kukulcan the Mayan God of wind. It’s just a very very exciting possibility.
The interview also talked about how the God Of War series really needed a new beginning and a fresh start. Here’s what SIE Santa Monica’s Shannon Studstill had to say about the soft reboot.
“What became apparent to me was that we were watching this franchise wane a bit,” Studstill said. “It was getting old. The storyline with Kratos being the hardcore badass–I think people were starting to say, ‘What’s next?’ I felt like, in order to reinvent, we really needed to turn a lot of things around.”
God of War is scheduled to come out in early 2018. Let us know if you will be buying it day one by commenting in the comments section below.
