No your read that right, Netflix will be bringing The Witcher TV series to our screens pretty soon.
Andrzej Sapkowski, writer of all eight novels of The Witcher Saga, is going to cater as a creative consultant for the new show which will be developed and produced by Netflix. Here’s what he had to say in a press release:
“I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing.”
The director of the introductory videos for all three Witcher games and Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer, Tomas Baginski is going to direct one episode per season, at minimum.
It is unclear uptil now about which particular stories will be followed by the series. The executive producers of the show will be Sean Daniel and Jason Brown and here’s what they had to say:
“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”
A production firm and visual effects house form Poland, Platige Image, is going to co-produce. The executive producers stressed on the fact that the subtext of the books is not going to be astray in the modification. Here’s what they said:
“There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre. It is a story about today and today’s challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover. It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts.”
