Naughty Dog is one of the biggest, most notable names in the gaming industry and it seems that they’ve been accused of sexual harassment by an employee that used to work for them. David Ballard revealed, through a series of tweets, that he was harassed by someone (a lead) at the studio but the Studio has responded by denying the claims made by David. Naughty Dog’s response says that a complaint like this was not heard of during David’s time at Naughty Dog thus it wasn’t documented at all.
The statement that Naughty Dog released said that there is no evidence to support David Ballard’s claim and they cannot take any further if no substantial proof is present. It continued to state the fact that Naughty Dog takes reports about sexual harassment very seriously.
“Harassment and inappropriate conduct have no place at Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment. We have taken and always will take reports of sexual harassment and other workplace grievances very seriously. We value every single person who works at Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is of utmost importance to us that we maintain a safe, productive workplace environment that allows us all to channel our shared passion for making games.”
David stated that he was offered a hefty sum to quietly leave the company and to never tell anyone about the secret terms of the contract. He rejected the offer and was fired immediately.
Ballard has worked on the likes of Uncharted 2,3 and 4 and also The Last Of Us as an environment artist so he’s a part of the team responsible for making all of these amazing worlds look and feel so unique and real.
Naughty Dog is currently working The Last Of Us 2 which is one of the most highly anticipated game ever since the original was released back on the PS3. For more, stay tuned!
