Microsoft Gives An Update On Phantom Dust After Scalebound Cancellation Chaos

8

Microsoft is being severely criticized after the cancellation of one of their much awaited exclusive Scalebound, and it remains to be seen how exactly they will back up their claims of delivering the best gaming experience in 2017.

The way in which Scalebound was cancelled has left many fans worried about the fate of other Xbox One projects. One such project is Phantom Dust which has been in development for a really long time , and  was cancelled and then brought back again in 2016, and is scheduled to be released sometime in 2017.

Its understandable that many fans are now worried about the fates of other Xbox One exclusives considering how things have gone down with Scalebound’s cancellation. Here is what Phil spencer had to say about the issue

“[It was a] Difficult decision, we believe result is better 4 Xbox gamers, still disappointing,” Spencer said on Twitter. “I’m confident in [20] 17 lineup that’s our focus.”

His comments are a bit vague , and I for one just don’t see how cancelling one of your most awaited exclusives benefit Xbox One gamers in the long run.

According to Microsoft General Manager Sharon Loftis, the development on Phantom Dust is going quite well, and that they were taking their time to bring the best possible gaming experience to the fans. Here is what she had to say

Just another example of media bias. MS has quality control and gets criticized for it. They see games being made and dont like what they see…… The reception from what was being shown wasnt super hype mode (because the gaming media doesnt let people be hyped about MS games). They decided it would be better to cancel the car than suffer a recall.

The gaming community just loves their Xbox One pile ups.

I agree. But as a customer I felt deceived. I was waiting a lot for this game. I got really sad about the cancelling. I was hyped Big deal ?

I would go to scalebound forums, twitter… I wasted my time =/

I am right with you. I was really looking forward to this game. On the bright side I will be saving some money and have more time to put into Sea Of Thieves (I Hope).

what you said is halfe true tbh… Scalebound has ALWAYS been hyped and always part of everyones most anticipated list.. and also a game thrown in PS4 fans face… but now all of a sudden the game is cancelled and xbox fans are backtracking and saying the game didn’t receive any hype and that its not a big deal… Dont get it twisted if the game didn’t work thats fine its how the business goes but to simply underplay that the games cancellation doesn’t matter is just plain and simply wrong! Now lets say crackdown 3 or cuphead gets delayed again or cancelled even after all these years of hype you al lwould simply repeat this process of saying the game wasnt worth it and you all dont care which is the main problem here.

Now….. I am not saying the cancellation doesnt matter. I was very interested in this game and looking forward to it as I am sure many fans of MS were. But dont confuse being in the conversation with “HYPE”. Scalebound was sometimes on most anticipated lists, the outlets and media talked about it like it existed but they werent selling you the like they did Bloodborne and No Man Sky (to name a few). Remember we have had time to get some speculation and ideas generating for over 2 years now and in truth the cancellation has generated more articles and conversation than the game has in less than a week.

If Crackdown 3 or Cuphead were cancelled it would be the same thing for me. I really wanted these games to come. I really wanted Fable Legends to come but this is the nature of the beast. And if you want to keep an eye on hype…. Crackdown 3 has barely been discussed and I am sure you can find more praising article for Spiderman, and Horizon and those were announced way later and in my humble opinion lack the significance that a Crackdown 3 and Sea Of Thieves brings.

My problem isnt being upset that the games are cancelled but the over all doom and gloom attached

yeah the doom and gloom is certainly annoying.. i keep telling people to relax because its really not that serious! but the other side of people who are acting like this cancellation isnt a big deal which is super annoying.
