“Marvel’s Runaways”, is reportedly coming to Hulu. According to Deadline, the online streaming service has ordered a pilot episode along with a potential full season script from ‘Gossip Girl’ creators ‘Josh Schwartz’ and ‘Stephanie Savage’. The two of them will be serving as writers and showrunners on ‘Marvel’s Runaways’ if the series is given a full go, and are excited at the prospect of bringing the teenage group series on screen. Avid fans of the series themselves, the two are delighted at the opportunity to work on the series. Schwartz was quoted as saying, “I’m a long-time fan of Runaways and couldn’t be more excited to bring Brian and Adrian’s characters to life”, with Savage adding, “Josh and I can’t wait to get to work for Marvel and Hulu”.
The series features a group of teenagers who discover that their parents are part of an evil organization called ‘The Pride’. Although the group can’t stand each other, they soon realize that they are the only ones who can bring down the organization and in order to do so they’ll have to join hands together. Led by Alex Wilder the group comprises of six individuals who inherit their parent’s superpowers and fight together to bring down the evil organization.
Started originally as a series in 2003, it was reported for several years that a feature film was in the makes. However, even with a lot of talk and scripts produced, the project was never given the green light, and the idea soon died out, until Hulu recently agreed on it. Fans of the comic book series will be delighted on the latest development from Marvel, after years of waiting. With several TV series already under its belt with Netflix, Runaways will be Marvel’s latest installment and the first one with Hulu. Although, it’s unclear if the story takes place in the same world as the Cinematic Universe, fans are already speculating and hoping on it. What do you think about this latest Marvel development?
