Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 rocked fans this year with some breathtaking performances by the gang. Star Lord’s origin was finally revealed and the movie did well to dig deeper into the roles of the rest of the guardians. Another major reveal in the movie was the antagonist of the next volume: Adam Warlock.
Adam Warlock’s cocoon was revealed in the second installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Adam Warlock is quite an iconic character when it comes to the Marvel comic universe. He has played the role of both villain as well as a hero and is also the arch enemy of the indestructible and immortal Thanos. As Warlock would come out of his cocoon he would be fully grown man who would be confused to how he would react to the world. Earlier there were reports that Mathew McConaughey would play the role of Warlock but James Gunn the director has debunked these claims.
James Gunn in an interview to IGN has indicated that though Warlock would be a fully grown man they would like to depict him someone younger. Mathew is 47 years old and might be too old for the role. He further indicated that initially Warlock had to appear in the second volume of the Guardians of the Galaxy but was eventually dropped due to an overload of characters.
Although Adam Warlock was an arch enemy of Thanos in the comics he won’t be coming in the Avengers: Infinity War storyline. Gunn would be adopting a different story of the character in Marvel Cinematic universe. Gunn has also mentioned that Warlock is one of his favorite characters hence fans can be rest assured that the character development of the Warlock is in good hands.
