Leaked Assassin’s Creed Concept Art Suggests That The Next Entry In The Franchise Will Be Set In Feudal Japan

It’s hardly been 2 months since the release of Assassin’s Creed Origin and yet it seems like concept art for the next installment has already been leaked.

The Assassin’s Creed series broke the cycle of releasing a game year after year with Assassin’s Creed Origins. The game received high praise for it’s excellent combat and engaging storylines and many people believe that this is the way forward for the long running franchise.

We may however have gotten an inkling to the setting for the next Assassin’s Creed game via leaked concept art. Before going  in to the details though it’s important to take this bit of news as a rumor at this time , due to the fact that Ubisoft have not officially confirmed or unveiled any details for the rumored next title.

According to the leaked concept art the next title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is set in Feudal Japan. This pictures can be found on ArtStation where John Bigorgne has a portfolio. Interestingly enough he is a concept artist at Ubisoft Montreal. Here is the aforementioned concept art.

As you can see the aforementioned concept art shows an Assassin in what looks like a Feudal Japan architecture and setting.

To further add credibility to the rumor there was also an easter egg hidden in Rainbow Six Siege. Where one Japanese Samurai armor had the Assassin’s Creed symbol on it. This was spotted by a redditor and you can see the picture below.

It may have not made any sense back then, but it does seem increasingly likely that the next installment in the franchise will be headed to Japan. This is actually promising as it means that the series is finally moving away from it’s previous Euro-Centric approach which was one of the reasons why  the series became stale in the first place.

I guess we will find out in due course about the next Assassin’s Creed , but an idea of a feudal Japan setting does sound very promising.
