Joe Manganiello Confirmed As Deathstroke For Ben Affleck’s Batman Film

Last week Ben Affleck teased a sneak peak on his official Twitter account; An armored Deathstroke strolling in an underground tunnel in his signature orange and black suit. This had fans going into a frenzy and speculations started to rise whether the beloved deadly assassin would be a part of the DC Entertainment Universe. DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns recently confirmed Deathstroke to be part of Ben Affleck’s solo Batman film, and also announced that the character will be played by ‘True Blood’ actor Joe Manganiello in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Deathstroke who goes by the name of Slade Wilson, was originally created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. The character initially had rampant run ins with the Teen Titans, however over the course of time he became one of Batman’s arch nemesis. This won’t be the first time that the deadly mercenary and assassin is being brought live on screen, the character was also portrayed in 3 seasons of CW’s Arrow played by actor Manu Bennett.

Johns refused to comment on whether the character would also be a part of the upcoming Justice League, hence its unclear what the extent of Deathstroke’s role is in the DCEU. However, he will be an integral part of the Batman solo movie, hence fans are pretty much contented over that development for now.
