Guardians of the Galaxy; directed by James Gunn has captivated the heart of audiences by delivering us characters that have surely surpassed expectations. The movie which was given little chance at the box-office were superhits and the super hero faction we call Guardians of the Galaxy stand almost toe to toe with the Avengers in terms of popularity level.
Now the Guardians are set to meet the Avengers in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War taking on the unfathomable Thanos. But what’s in store for the superhero team after the latest Avengers installment?
I’m definitely interested in the direction that these characters are headed and their roles in the Marvel Universe.
Director James Gunn in an interview regarding Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone), Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), Charlie 27 (Ving Rhames) and Mainframe (Miley Cyrus, Krugarr, Aletta Ogord) said that “I’m definitely interested in the direction that these characters are headed and their roles in the Marvel Universe.” He further added “That is not something that we’re dealing with. These are older characters and more criminal than our Guardians. So we’re focusing on that.”
James Gunn through his statements has made it clear that the origins of such characters would not be explored moreover he also mentioned that he isn’t afraid from deviate from the comics. James Gunn pointed out that it isn’t exactly necessary to follow a defined path and that some changes come along the way.
He regarding the issue said that “I always do what’s best for the movie.” He added that “I’ve changed a lot already from the comics with the Guardians. Groot’s personality in the first Guardians, which people loved, was nothing like his personality in the comics. He didn’t have that puppy dog innocence that we love about Groot. I don’t restraint myself in any way when it comes to using stuff from the comics or not using it.”
