Here’s What To You Can Expect From The Flash Season 4

The Wolfhall takes a look at what you can expect in The Flash Season 4

Season 3 of the Flash turned out to be just the way as we expected. We saw numerous predictions as to who the speedster could be on the internet. But in the end our prediction of Barry Allen of the future being the future flash turned out to be correct. While many were shocked at the latest reveal, Barry Allen made the most sense of being Savitar.

Firstly there were numerous occasions in season 3, where we saw  Savitar mention that he was the future Flash. In addition, Savitar  knew about everything that there was to know about Team Flash. He anticipated the team’s moves rather accurately and always was one step ahead of the team. One thing that still leaves us confused is why Savitar killed Iris. The reason still remains unknown and the director has revealed that the answer would come in the future.  We would have to wait till The Flash Season 4 to find more about the development as the explanation that the time remnant that would go on to become Savitar would only come about through Iris’s death

However there are many who feel that the season did not quite live upto expectations and are more or less tired from another sort of speedster villain , however that might be about to change in The Flash Season 4 .

In the past three seasons all of the major super villains have been speedsters. However, this is expected to change in season 4. The executive producer of the Flash, Andrew Kreisberg has indicated that the next season would not feature a speedster as the main villain. He further mentioned that speedsters were required as the main villains to set the tone for the story. He also indicated why  Savitar was the right blend as a villain in season 3.

Kreisberg regarding the issue said that “With Savitar, we know who he is, and we’ve been planning this for a while,” said Kreisberg. “The first two seasons were about having fun with his powers, and this season for Barry [Gustin] is really about the pitfalls of having powers, and that’s the story we wanted to tell. That’s why Savitar was the perfect villain for that story.”

One recent development has given some hints as to who the new villain in the latest season could be.  There are some rumors going around that the new villain could be Clifford Devoe aka, the Thinker. He first appeared in the All-Flash comics number 12. He appears to be someone like Ultron from the Avengers 2 who is a non-living artificial intelligence. As the name suggests, the Thinker was someone who believed that many of the criminals had the skills but not the brains to beat super heroes. He therefore started helping small time villains come up with strategies to help these villains.

Another speculation that is going around is that we might see a new Flash. Barry Allen has departed Central City now and there are rumors that Kid Flash or Wally West would be the new defender of Central City. Wally West is now all set to take the mantle from Barry Allen. When Flash went back in time to save his mother, Nora he managed to tweak the space time continuum. Wally after becoming a speedster was mentored by Barry and seems to be the best man suited for the job. However we believe that would be temporary and Barry will return from the speed force in some mysterious circumstances which will later be expanded upon in Season 4.

While in the comics, many comic book audience developed a huge fan following for Wally West, it would be interesting to see how the TV show audience reacts to this. Grant Gustin as Barry Allen has assumed the role of Flash for quite a long time now and there is a possibility that they may not accept the idea of a new Flash.
