Harry Potter movies are heading back to the big screens for a week. Yes! You heard that right. Hogwarts and the wizard world is headed back to screens to build hype for the upcoming movie “Fantastic Beasts” from J.K Rowling.
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is to be released come November, and to build buzz IMAX and Warner Bros. are bringing the Harry Potter universe back to the big screen. All of the eight Harry Potter films will have an exclusive one week run starting October 13th. Fantastic Beasts is more or less a spin off from the immensely popular Harry Potter franchise, which will see author J.K Rowling making her much awaited return to the big screen.
The latest Imax engagement will be the first time both Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will be digitally supersized for Imax screens. The Harry Potter engagement will screen in Imax’s 2D format and include content from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and recorded greetings from Eddie Redmayne and the film’s other talent.
Six films in the Harry Potter franchise — Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Princeand Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 & 2 — have had an accumulative total around $216 million in Imax theaters worldwide.
Rowling’s wizardly world is expanding swiftly, with a Fantastic Beasts sequel already under work by the Warner Bros. Moreover, the new play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two, commenced recently in London to sold-out performances. Elsewhere, the Wizardly Universe of Harry Potter theme parks at Universal Studios in Orlando, Hollywood and Osaka, Japan, are attracting huge crowds and have been a great success.
