Witcher 3 fans were overjoyed when CD Projekt Red announced the standalone GWENT The Witcher Card Game. In addition, the developers had previously given the idea that they wanted to feature Cross Network Play for their game, which has now been confirmed.
A Reddit user notified that CD Projekt Red has updated its FAQ for GWENT, and the developers have confirmed that GWENT will enable and allow Cross Network play for both Xbox One and PC. However, the same can not be said for PS4, with devs saying that they are currently more interested in other options.
The idea for Cross Network Play has been the headlines ever since it was introduced and many developers have expressed their desire to feature this functionality to their games. However, there are still a few things to consider before the feature can be added into the game, however, sources confirm that it will be available for all games in the future.
GWENT’s popularity has been off the charts among fans, but the developers never expected that this mini game would become this popular.
“We wanted to make a fun mini-game that players would enjoy in between saving the world in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. That was the plan when we were creating GWENT. And then it turned out players were actually spending a whole lot of time playing GWENT, much more than we anticipated.”
As Gwent will feature a multiplayer component along with a single player campaign, there are definitely going to be some third party hacks for the game. However, CD Projekt Red is also ready to take on this issue, and the developers are ensuring that cheaters do not prevail in GWENT: The Witcher Card Game.
GWENT The Witcher Card Game will launch for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but no specific release date has been announced. What do you make of this development? Share your thoughts and views by commenting in the comments section below.
