The recent release of the action-adventure RPG Horizon Zero Dawn has seen much success after it’s release last month exclusively for the PS4. The reviews have been remarkable and it has shaped to be a total and complete success for Guerrilla Games as a new IP. The developers recently were interviewed by Game Informer and they mentioned possibilities for a sequel.
“We’ve been absolutely humbled by the players’ response to the story and their emotional connection to Aloy. Should a sequel happen, our number one goal would be to respect that connection by doing our utmost to create a story that resonates just as deeply.
We feel duty-bound to honor the time that players have invested into Horizon: Zero Dawn. The last thing we want to do is disappoint the folks who have given the game such a passionate support.”
This is what Narrative Director John Gonzalez had to say about it. Their focus on making a better story for the sequel is a great plan as it plays such a huge role in making Horizon: Zero Dawn such an amazing game. There were also other things discussed such as expanding on the list of different machines in the sequel.
Art Director Jan-Bart van Beek mentioned that having more machines would be a must if the sequel is to happen. The diversity of that aspect would result in a more interesting open world that Horizon: Zero Dawn has created. He had to say that they wanted to push for a hundred machines in the game but could not do so. It would always be a good point of focus for a sequel.
A lot of fixes and improvements were also talked about. There is a possible patch or two coming to Horizon Zero Dawn to fix some minor issues , and to improve certain aspects of the game such as the weapon wheel .
The game has received extremely positive feedback from players and critics and seeing that it had sold 2.6 million copies in the first two weeks after launch, it is definitely in line for a sequel sometime.
