Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has been hitting all the right notes.After Guardians of the Galaxy’s breathtaking financial success, Director James Gunn did not hesitate to dwell into a sequel. And the decision seems to be finally paying off. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has taken the international markets by storm. The sequel has opened in 37 markets internationally and hasn’t disappointed yet.
The movie has grossed a whopping $101 million, 57% more than its first volume and also 50% more than Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Out of the countries in which it is released in it has made the most in the UK with $15.5 million. Australia, Germany, France and Mexico follow respectively with $11.6 million, 8.3 million, $7.9 million, and $7.6 million respectively.
This year the competition will be as tough as ever. The summer is set to see a release of several super spectacular blockbusters including Wonder Women etc. While DC has failed to make an astounding impact in the box office, we never know what this new installment may offer.
The Fate of the Furious will also be a tough one to beat. Globally the movie has managed to bring in $1 billion. Domestic proceeds from the film are around $197.2 billion. Another movie that seems to be captivated the audience was Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The movie has made around $1.14 billion as of date.
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to come to US theatres on May 5. Its US and Chinese release will take place on the same date and would clearly bring in more greens for the franchise. James Gunn must pat himself on the back for this amazing movie. Initially the movie was not being thought of much and was just made to complement the Avengers. But the exquisite direction along with the breathtaking humor and acting has finally made it a fan favorite.
