The complete titles for sequels of Pacific Rim and Godzilla have been officially announced by the publishing firm, Legendary Pictures, at a press release.
Directed by Michael Doughtery, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, is to be released on the 22nd of March, 2019, as announced by the studio today. Whereas, Pacific Rim: Uprising is to be released on the 23rd of February, 2018 and its director is Steven S. DeKnight.
It is strange to notice the fact that the sequel title of Godzilla is similar to the North American remake from 1956. The studio, however, did not mention anything about it nor anything about the sequel but it is pretty obvious that the title was inspired from the 1956 version of the film.
Prior to this announcement, Pacific Rim: Uprising was being called Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. It is being filmed in Australia, as of now and stars the actor from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, John Boyega, as Idris Elba’s son, Stacker Pentecost. A reprise of Charlie Hunnam is also going to be played by him as pilot Raleigh Becket.
The announcement through a press release also included that the producer Herb W. Gains will be supervising both the films, he has also worked with director Zack Snyder for Watchmen and is also working for an upcoming film which is going to be an adaptation of Pokemon’s Detective Pikachu.
