Director of God Of War PS4 Puts Light on Why Kratos Doesn’t Have Blades Anymore

God Of War

The upcoming game, God of War, for PS4 is going to be varied in many ways in comparison to foregoing entries in the series. The game will essentially be a reboot for one of the most beloved franchise’s that has been associated with the PlayStation for a number of years . However fans have been left curious as to why Kratos has traded his blades for an ax? Well Cory Barlog recently shed some light on the matter in an interview

The blades represent a very dark time in the life of Kratos who is only trying to put it all away. Hence to move on from the main and suffering he has endured over the years the Chains Of Chaos had to be gone. Cory Barlog said that the Chains are not only a weapon but Scarlet Letters:

“We were experimenting with lots of different weapons, lots of different things. I think we wanted to create an identity because to me the blades represent a very dark time in [Kratos’] life. They are not just a weapon to him. They are his scarlet letter. They are the marking that somebody tricked him, that he made a bad deal, that he made a mistake. Powerful, but I think also powerfully charged in its emotion. So I think of part of him wanting to move forward is being able to [leave the blades behind].”

Although Kratos might have traded in his signature blades for an axe the game will probably be as violent for ever , however from what we have seen so far the emphasis will be more on developing a story and the bond between Kratos and Atreus. Furthermore it will also be interesting to see how Kratos comes upon the ax and in what direction the series heads from here on out.

The game, God of War, is scheduled to be released on PS4 and PS4 Pro in the early 2018. let us know what are your expectations from the game by commenting in the comments section below.
