Microsoft and Universal Pictures are teaming up to adapt the renowned Xbox franchise into a movie, The Coalition Studio chief Rod Fergusson announced today, in between a live broadcast for Gears of War 4. Scott Stuber (Ted, Central Intelligence) and Dylan Clark (Planet of the Apes, Oblivion) who head up Bluegrass Films, a Universal-based studio, will be serving as producers.
Any details pertaining to the movie have been kept hushed for now; the writing and directing team, casting, plot, or any news for that matter has been kept under the wraps and not been revealed. Movies adapted from video games franchise have an abysmal reputation, and have rarely seen success. Let’s just hope this upcoming does not fall into that category. If they make a light comedy action movie it might just turn out all well and good, we’ll have to wait and find out.
