Game Of Thrones Actually Referenced The Last Of Us In Newest Season

Ever since Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us dropped back in 2013, it has gained a lot of attention and popularity. The game’s unique and emotional storyline left a many in awe and desperately in wait for a sequel! But it is only recently that we came to know that it is as big of a deal in other industries too!

Game of Thrones just aired its seventh, highly anticipated season recently and the first episode contained a slight reference to the Last Of Us. “Dragonstone” contained a small piece of dialogue that paid tribute to the absolutely wonderful and heartbreaking experience that was the Last Of Us. The game is due to get a direct sequel that is expected to drop next year or in early 2019. It has, since then, gotten a remaster for the PS4 that enhanced the game to take advantage of the upgraded hardware. It also got a story DLC before that, Left Behind, which acted as a prequel to Ellie’s story.

In the episode, Jaime Lannister tells Cersei that “We’re the last of us” referring to the fact that every other Lannister (except Tyrion, of course) is dead. Now this might come off as a really vague sentence and comparing it to the game might feel like a stretch but the writers actually confirmed that it was indeed linked the the game.

David Benioff, Game of Thrones produced and writer, confirmed that it was definitely a shout out to the game. It was directed so that the Nikolaj Coster-waldau said that line due to the his resemblance to the protagonist of the Last of Us, Joel.

The Last Of Us is getting a sequel some time soon so be sure to stay tuned for everything new on that and if you haven’t played the original Last of Us yet then it is the best time to pick up the remastered version for the PS4 from amazon for only $19.99.
