We take a look at why there are so many delays in the production of the last two seasons of Games of Thrones
Fans of Game of Thrones may have to wait another two years to view the final season. The eighth or the last season of the blockbuster show would not air until 2019. The news means that fans would now have to wait even longer in order to witness the end of the historic fictional drama series.
The season 7 of Game of Thrones is scheduled for release in July. Season 7 was also delayed from its initial release date and is testing the patience of many fans. Another new development in the last two seasons of the shows is that the number of episodes have been shortened to seven and six respectively. All of the preceding seasons have had ten episodes but the episodes in the upcoming seasons are expected to be abridged. So why are the producers taking so much time producing something that has lesser number of episodes?
One reason could be to increase the curiosity levels of the fans. Game of Thrones is a show that has reached new heights when it comes to gaining popularity. No matter how much the delay is you would still find people watching the show. So the longer the wait, the more the excitement and anticipation level becomes.
According to the EW, the six episodes of Season 8 are expected to be extra cinematic. An analogy that was provided was the six episodes would be live six one hour movies rather than six TV show episodes. The HBO president of programming, Casey Bloys regarding the issue in an interview to EW said that One of the hallmarks of the show has been how cinematic is it,” she explained. “The show has proven that TV is every bit as impressive, and in many cases, more so than film.”
So it seems that the producers are putting in more efforts to make the show more appealing to the audience. There is a possibility that all the waiting for the fans may prove to be invaluable in the end.
