Flashpoint ‘Repercussions’ In Season 3 Synopsis

The Flash

Season 2 of The Flash had fans out on a roller coaster ride, with unexpected twists and turns at each corner that eventually set up one of the most phenomenal finales in the history of television shows. Although Barry succeeds in defeating Zoom, fueled by his father’s murder at the hands of his nemesis he races back in time to prevent the Reverse Flash from murdering his mother Nora. His decision sets up the ‘Flashpoint’ arc from the comics for Season 3, that has been teased in various footage, clips, promos and videos over the past few months. There was speculation galore among fans regarding the upcoming season and now The CW has finally released their official synopsis for the season 3 premier episode, titled ‘Flashpoint’.

You can read the full synopsis below:

“WHAT WOULD YOU SACRIFICE TO HAVE EVERYTHING YOU’VE EVER WANTED? — Barry (Grant Gustin) is living his dream life – his parents are alive, he’s asked Iris West (Candice Patton) on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse Flash (guest star Matt Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash.”

Although the synopsis doesn’t really reveal anything that we do not know already, it is exciting nevertheless to have it officially out in the open. Similar to the original Flashpoint from the comics, Barry Allen will see his memories fade from the original timeline as his mind is molded into the current timeline and its events. He will succeed in saving his mother, and will retain his powers. However it is reported that the Scarlet Speedster will find his powers diminishing the longer he stays in the alternate timeline.

The most important aspect of the synopsis would be the “disaster” part, relevant to the two villains The Flash would be facing – Dr. Alchemy and Savitar. It remains unknown which universe each of the two villains would be appearing in and when, we’ll only find out once the new season begins. One thing’s for sure, nothing will be normal on The Flash this time around. It’s going to be one hell of a season, and given the recent developments it might just surpass the previous two.

Are you excited for the premiere of Season 3? What do you make of the revealed synopsis? Would Barry stick to the alternate timeline with his mother? Or will he accept reality and come back to real life? Share your thoughts and opinions by commenting below.

The Flash season 3 will premiere on October 4, on the CW.
