The Flash Season 3: Savitar’s Identity Finally Revealed But Whats Next?

0

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight’s episode of The Flash finally revealed Savitar’s true identity. Hit the jump for all the latest on that and a first look at what’s to come next week…

The latest episode of The Flash showed us a future version of everybody’s favorite Barry Allen which is exactly what we predicted it to be; Savitar! However, this still leaves many of our questions unanswered because there was a cliffhanger right there. The questions are actually legit such as why kill Iris West? Why is Barry a villain? What happened?!!!

There is one thing we are confident about, and as it turns out  our prediction was right!! The executive producer of the show, Andrew Kreisberg, confirmed that the reason why Iris is killed by future version Barry is only going to be revealed in the future. Here’s what he said, “You get that in the next episode, and the mystery is ongoing, but obviously Savitar is a version of Barry Allen, a heavily scarred version”. After this he continued on with the reason for why Barry Allen was made the biggest villain of season 3 through Speed God, Savitar:

“What’s really cool for anyone who thought that there wasn’t a plan, or we didn’t know, or we were making this up as we go, this was always where we were heading. The idea that the darkest villain we could come up with was actually a very damaged version of our hero was interesting and fresh to us. We’re not only competing with all the stuff that we’ve done on Flash, but we’re always competing with everything we’ve done on all the other shows. So to have our lead actor be both the hero and the villain isn’t something we’ve done before, so that was exciting for us as storytellers.”

The move was very interesting but it was confusing! Iris’ death basically pushed this future-version Barry Allen over the edge, although it is also a possibility that he is one of the time remainders who basically ended up surviving because the future has been visited already and witnessed that the Scarlet Speedster eventually masters his grief and ends up being a hero again. Obviously, this is just one possibility and if it means anything then it’s the fact that time travel is confusion sh**!!! Duh.
