Experience Game of Thrones The Way George R.R. Martin Intended

We may have to wait a little bit longer for George R.R. Martin to finally complete The Winds of Winter, the sixth installment in his A Song of Ice and Fire saga that has left fans restless. This fall however will see a new book that’ll have die hard Game of Thrones fans lining up or rushing to online stores when it hits the shelves on October 18.

There have been rumors that George RR Martin has always wanted to have an illustrated Game of Thrones novel, and now it seems it will be becoming a reality. Recent images of the book have surfaced online , which shows it to be a visual masterpiece.

The book is being made to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the popular A Song of Ice and Fire series, The first book of which titled a Game Of Thrones came out back in 1996.

Game of Thrones: The Illustrated Edition will cover the first book over the course of 73 illustrations.

One eye catching aspect is the redesigned depiction of the Iron Throne in comparison to the one featured on the HBO TV show. Anne Groell, the longtime editor of the entire book series, recalled how she had to cajole Martin to get a clear picture of how the Iron Throne looked like in the authors mind.

Groell stated:

“He finally said, ‘It’s 10 to 16 feet off the ground, with steps going up to it like a slide.’,”

. “I said, ‘OK, nowhere in the books does it say that!’ It’s what I like to call the ‘invisible-head syndrome,’ that authors always think you can see into their head and see the vision that they’ve got.”

It’s nice to see another addition to the ASOIAF series and it is sure to excite fans worldwide. What do you guys think? Will you be buying the book? Let us know in the comments section below.
