Recently, it was confirmed that a new Dragon Age game was in the works but it seems that there’s much more to the franchise in the future than we expected. The creative director of the Dragon Age games, Mike Laidlaw, confirmed on twitter that although they don’t have a specific number of games in mind they will at the least make two more Dragon Age games before calling it quits for the series.
This means that there will always be one more game in the future apart from the one that is currently in the works, so the series fans can rejoice in this news! This recent news came to light after a fan asked about the end of the series on twitter to which Mike responded with: “There is no planned ending for DA. There is an evolving plan that tends to look 2 games ahead or so.”
It is certain that the Dragon Age series is of more importance to the company now after the disappointing reception of Mass Effect: Andromeda and the decision to halt development for more games in the Mass Effect series. This statement by Laidlaw is still valid considering how recent it is and hopefully we will get to see more Dragon Age games that are worthy of the series’ name.
BioWare are addressing the importance of the work they’re putting in the story of the new Dragon Age after Andromeda’s story flaws. Dragon Age Inquisition received mixed reviews but was, overall, a fairly decent game and introduced a lot of new players to the series. To write a better script, the company has even brought in external writers such as Alexis Kennedy (who worked on Stellaris).
There is no official release date for the next Dragon Age game as it is still very early in development but we will be sure to hear more about it as the year progresses. Let us know if you’re excited about another Dragon Age game in the comments section below and stay tuned for more!
